Trail to Stack Rock Remains Closed Until Further Notice

September 08, 2016

The trail to Stack Rock, also known as Entrance Exam, will remain closed even on weekends for additional logging and to make the trail safe for public use.

"The private owners have been logging their private land to combat trees infected by mistletoe and beetle infestations", said Land Trust Executive Director Tim Breuer. “The extent of the disease has required additional logging. And the trail is in pretty rough shape and not safe for public use. We hope to get it open as soon as possible." No date for opening the trail has been set.

The public is asked to respect the trail closure for their own safety and so the logging can be completed as quickly as possible and the trail opened back up. The trail which crosses private land is the most direct route to Stack Rock, a popular destination acquired by the City of Boise with Foothills levy money and a generous private donation.

An alternative route to Stack Rock begins near Bogus Basin on the East Side Trail.
