Use Your Outdoor Voice: Ridge to Rivers Partnership Seeks Trail User Input Through Annual Fall Survey

The Ridge to Rivers partnership, led by the City of Boise, is once again seeking feedback on the popular Boise Foothills trail system through its annual online survey. The brief survey is designed to gather input on trail use, maintenance priorities, and ways to improve the overall trail experience for the community. Click here to take the fall 2025 survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

“Trail user feedback is essential to help us make informed decisions about maintenance and future planning,” said Ridge to Rivers Program Manager David Gordon. “By sharing your experience, you’re helping shape the stewardship of more than 220 miles of trails so they can be enjoyed by future generations.”

The survey closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Responses will be reviewed by trail managers and Boise Parks and Recreation staff, and a summary of the findings will be shared publicly after the survey period ends. This is the fifth consecutive year the partnership has conducted the fall survey, and past feedback has led to meaningful updates to trail management strategies, education efforts, and new tools for trail users.

“The Boise Foothills are one of our community’s most treasured outdoor features,” said Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. “By sharing your feedback, you are helping us protect these landscapes, expand access to outdoor recreation through levy funded projects and land purchases, and ensure the trail system continues to serve people of all ages and abilities. We encourage everyone who enjoys the foothills to take part in this survey and be a voice for our open spaces.”

MUDDY TRAILS REMINDER

Fall means the start of muddy trail season in the Boise Foothills. Please remember to stay off wet and muddy trails to prevent long-term damage and erosion. Riding, running or hiking on wet trails causes deep ruts and erosion that can take months to repair. If you encounter a muddy section, please turn around and choose an all-weather trail or paved path like the Boise River Greenbelt instead. The Ridge to Rivers interactive map is updated with trail condition reports specific to individual trails throughout the year. Updates and important reminders are also posted on the Ridge to Rivers Facebook page.
