September 11 Weekend Trail Report
September 11, 2026 12:00 PM
It should be a beautiful weekend in the Foothills. Colors are already starting to turn in many locations, however we're a long way from the true Boise autumn.
Ridge to Rivers trail crews are working on projects in a number of locations, including Cottonwood Creek, Toll Road, Shane's and Stack Rock Trail. We will begin reconstructing the 5-Mile Gulch Trail bridge burned in the Claremont Fire beginning next week.
Everyone - please help us pass the word - the Claremont Fire made it very easy and inviting to travel off-trail in a large portion of the Foothills. Doing so, however, impacts many resource considerations including plant regeneration, wildlife habitat, erosion potential and visuals. There has been significant off-trail motorized travel in the are between Sidewinder Saddle and Fat Tire Traverse Junction, requiring us to construct a long section of fence to deter this activity.
Responsible trail use is key to allowing the Foothills to recover from the effects of the Claremont Fire.
Thank you!
