January 29 Trail Report

January 29, 2026 12:00 PM

Freestone

Although the foothills were dusted with a coating of snow yesterday morning - by yesterday afternoon and as today begins to warm up that snow will thaw and conditions will change quite quickly. Unless you're reading this report now and planning on an early outing - your best bets today are going to be sandier trails (think Hulls Gulch, Freestone, and the Polecat draw from the Collister Trailhead as examples), all-weather trails, Rocky Canyon and 8th Street Roads and the always reliable Greenbelt. With warmer temps and overnight lows slightly above freezing forecasted this weekend and into next week - it's possible trails will begin to dry out sooner than later - fingers crossed!
