January 14 Trail Report

Rocky Canyon Road

If you read yesterday's report you can stop reading right now and pour yourself another cup of coffee, as very little has changed. The best time to get out on the trails is in the morning hours when temperatures remain below freezing, as they will be frozen and great-to-go. As temps climb toward and above freezing, most trails are going to soften up and become prone to damage. You will know this when you find yourself slipping in mud and walking or riding off the side of the trail to avoid it. Time to turn around.

Sandy and all-weather trails are in good shape throughout the day, as are trails that don't get a lot of direct sunlight as they will likely remain frozen. Please use our Interactive Map https://www.ridgetorivers.org/trails/interactive-map/ and this web page to help you plan some trail time that does not lead to trail damage https://ridgetorivers.org/trail-guide/trail-etiquette/wet-weather-and-winter-trail-use/

Happy Trails!
