February 9 Trail Report

Polecat Loop (1)

Trail conditions today are unfortunately a bit difficult to predict. While the warm temperatures and lack of an overnight freeze helped things to finally dry a bit more over the weekend, the Foothills received approximately ¼” of rain overnight – meaning that we are likely waking up to muddy trails in many locations.

This being the case, your best bet is to stick to sandier trails today. If you venture further from those, please be vigilant and turn around if you encounter muddy conditions.

Trail tip for the day:  The section of Polecat Loop above Cartwright Road is notorious for being muddy long after nearby trail are drying. Simply put, don’t do that loop.  Instead utilize Doe Ridge, Quick Draw and the southern half of Polecat Loop if you head that direction.
