February 6 Trail Report

Cartwright Ridge Trail

Although the current temperature for Boise is listed at 34 degrees, we do have a slight freeze in the Foothills so if you can get out (very) early you will find frozen tread conditions – good for traveling on, but a bit dicey and teeth chattering in many places due to frozen ruts.

By 9:00 or so you will see many if not most trails again softening and turning to mud. At that point please look for dry alternatives. Many trails are similar to Cartwright Ridge as indicated in the photos – the trail starts out sandy and dry from Pierce Park Road, but ½-mile further it turns to complete mud. Time to turn around….

There are still some great options out there however. Table Rock Trail is a good, hard ride, hike or run and is in great shape. Lower Hulls is in good shape as well (even day of the month so uphill only for riders, either direction for foot traffic). Trail 5 is another great out and back that should be in fairly good shape.
