February 5 Trail Report

February 5, 2026 8:00 AM

Old Pen Trail

Not a whole lot has changed in terms of trail conditions since yesterday. With another overnight temperature right around freezing, trails will be frozen early but thaw quickly. If you're an early riser (now), you'll have some nice options. If you're a later starter (after 9 am), your options will be limited.

If you're looking for something a little longer in distance and with some elevation, consider - Hulls Gulch Trail , Tram Trail, 3 Bears/Freestone Trail (out and back) and Table Rock Trail (out and back), Polecat up to Quickdraw (out and back) or Rocky Canyon and 8th street roads. Your best bet for shorter outings are the all-weather trails and always reliable greenbelt.

Some examples of trails that should be avoided by 9 a.m. include but are not limited to - Polecat Cartwright TH, trails in the Big Springs system, Red Cliffs, trails in the Hillside to Hollow system, Rock Island and Rock Garden.

To sum this report up, there are some nice options for your recreational needs today, especially as out and backs. However, there are a lot trails throughout the system that should be simply avoided.
