February 28 Trail Report
February 28, 2026 8:00 AM
Happy Saturday and while we are enjoying unseasonably nice and mild temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s, a heavy blanket of cloud cover will persist throughout the day, muting the sun's drying power. This has created a "mixed bag" scenario where many lower-elevation and sandier trails, such as those in the Camel’s Back or Lower Hulls Gulch areas, have dried out beautifully and are currently good to go. However, a large portion of the system is still in the active process of drying out, particularly mid- elevation routes and those with high clay content.
Because of this there's a significant split in conditions that requires careful navigation. If you encounter mud that sticks to your shoes or tires, please turn around immediately to prevent lasting damage to the foothills. Before you head out, be sure to check the Interactive Map for the most recent color-coded status updates on your specific route.
