February 22 Trail Report
February 22, 2026 8:00 AM
Although we have had a little winter chill and a touch of snow we are back to unseasonably warm temperatures and clear skies today, leading the Boise Foothills into a rapid freeze-thaw cycle. While trails will likely be frozen and stable in the early morning hours, the mid-50s forecast means they will thaw and melt fast once the sun hits.
Higher Elevations: still have significant snow coverage to remain throughout the Corrals Trail and other upper-elevation routes. These areas are currently in a "mixed bag" state; while they remain snow-covered, the warming air is starting to create slushy conditions.
Lower & Mid-Foothills: These areas are the most sensitive right now. As the sun rises, the snow and frost will quickly turn into deep, slick mud. Trails with high clay content, like those in the Military Reserve or near Table Rock, will become "sloppy" by mid-morning.
There are still a few trails in good condition so please check out the Interactive Map to guide your adventure today!
