December 30 Trail Report
December 30, 2025 12:00 PM
Temperatures are quite cold first thing this morning throughout the Lower Foothills which means that trail conditions are going to be frozen solid for much of the day. Overall, trail conditions remain quite good for this time of the year and the Ridge to Rivers Interactive Map (https://www.ridgetorivers.org/trails/interactive-map/) indicates that most locations remain GREEN or good-to-go. It is important to note, however, that the below freezing overnight temperatures may be beginning to bring some of that moisture to the surface of the soil in some areas of the trail system. Yesterday, we did find muddy trails around Hidden Springs (think Redtail, Currant Creek, and Peggy’s trails) by the afternoon when conditions had thawed.
We’ve been fortunate so far this season (or unfortunate if you are into a snow sport) to have avoided consistently muddy trails around the trail system. These conditions are sure to not last forever, so please continue to keep an eye out for when they do begin to change significantly. You can continue to utilize these daily trail reports, the Ridge to Rivers Interactive Map, and the Wet Weather and Winter Trail Use webpage (https://www.ridgetorivers.org/trail-guide/trail-etiquette/wet-weather-and-winter-trail-use/) as resources to stay informed on how to manage your winter recreation in the Foothills when the weather does finally begin to change.
In the meantime, have a great day out on the trails!
