December 27 Trail Report

Sweetconnie

After a remarkably windy and a few light showers throughout this week, trails in the Foothills are in fantastic shape this morning. While late December usually brings consistent mud and "freeze-thaw" cycles, the recent winds have acted like a giant hairdryer, keeping the majority of the system surprisingly dry. This is definitely not normal for this time of year—it's an awesome opportunity to hit the dirt! There are still a few notable exceptions easily identifiable on the Interactive Map, but overall, the trail options are wide open today.

Know Before You Go:

  • Be Early: We are tracking a chance of rain (and potentially light snow in higher elevations) moving in later this afternoon. To ensure you stay on dry tread and avoid the mud, we highly recommend getting your miles in earlier in the day.
  • Mind the Puddles: You may still find short, muddy sections or lingering puddles in shaded areas or north facing slopes. Please do your best to walk or ride through these, rather than around them, so that you don’t contribute to trail widening or "braiding."

Enjoy these rare late-December dry conditions and thank you for checking out this report!
