December 25 Trail Report
December 25, 2025 8:15 AM
Happy Holidays and thanks for tuning into the trail report, today's conditions: surprisingly dry and good to use! We have some great news for those looking to burn off those holiday calories today. Despite receiving .16 inches of rain yesterday, the trails are in remarkably good shape.
The combination of unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds over the last 24 hours has done wonders for the Foothills. The wind, in particular, has acted like a giant hairdryer, pulling moisture out of the tread and keeping things firm. While we typically expect "peanut butter" mud this time of year, many of our lower and mid-foothills trails are currently staying surprisingly dry and are ready for use!
Quick reminder! While the reports are positive, remember that conditions can change quickly as you move into shadier draws or higher elevations. Please keep the following in mind to help us protect our trail system:
- Mind the Mud: Even if a trail starts dry, you may encounter soft spots. If you reach a section where the mud is sticking to your shoes or tires, please turn around.
- Don't Go Around: If you encounter a small puddle, ride or walk directly through it. Stepping off-trail to avoid mud creates "braiding," which kills native vegetation and permanently widens the trail.
Friendly Reminder: We are incredibly lucky to have these trails open during the winter. Your responsible use today ensures they stay in great shape for the spring!
