December 22 Trail Report

December 22, 2025 8:00 AM

NO USE #1

We received almost 3/4" of rain in the Boise Foothills yesterday with more coming down this morning. This has left most trails very wet, muddy and prone to damage - and there is more moisture on the way. As such, we are closing the section of Ridgecrest Trail from Mountain Cove Road to the archery range this morning. We anticipate this closure remaining in place throughout the winter as we have done in previous years to protect the trail tread. If you are familiar with this trail section you know that it contains some of the worst, most clay heavy soils in the system.

We will evaluate other typical trail sections for seasonal closure as well, and update this site if needed.

For today, please stick to all-weather trails, the Boise River Greenbelt, and Foothills roads for your outdoor recreation needs. Traveling on singletrack trails under these conditions will lead to long-term damage not only to the trail tread but also the surrounding vegetation.

Thank you for checking this report and for using the Interactive Map to see daily trail conditions as well.
