December 12 Trail Report

Trail conditions continue to improve, and may be the best we've seen in years for mid- December. Not surprising considering the warm temperatures. You will find lingering puddles and short soft sections of mud on shadier trails in the mid and lower Foothills, but other than that you should encounter dry to tacky trail conditions. Upper Foothills trails will likely be a bit softer with more mud and sporadic snow, so would not be the best bet today. 

The one notable exception to these conditions is Cottonwood Creek Trail in Military Reserve, which is still quite muddy and should be avoided.
