Cottonwood Creek Trail Closure Update
September 9, 2026 12:00 PM
Just a quick heads up for folks that intend to recreate in the Lower Military Reserve in the near future. Beginning this afternoon (September 9), a segment of the Cottonwood Creek Trail will be closed for all users as the Trail Crew begins repairs on some of the old, rotting cribbing on the side of the trail that it is holding it in place on the hillside. This closure will last through the rest of this week and likely through next week as well. It will be in effect from 7:00 AM through 3:00 PM Monday – Friday. Please respect this closure if you come across it as the trail in this area is very narrow, making passing work crews and their equipment challenging. Trail users will have full access to this trail during the weekends while the work is underway.
The segment that is being closed is on the west side of the trail and close to Mountain Cove Rd. A good alternate route to navigate around this closure will be via Eagle Ridge, located just south of Cottonwood Trail on the ridgeline above it. Toll Road Trail will also be an option, however, there is also work in progress to repair cribbing on this trail as well. There are no trail closures on Toll Road at this time.
