April 22 Trail Report

NO USE #1

There is likely little need to put folks on notice about staying off Foothill trails today as the rain is pouring down here first thing this morning. On days like today most of us hunker down and wait for sunnier skies before heading out to get our outdoor recreation fix. If nothing else, simply let this be a reminder to give the trails a bit of time to dry before heading back out tomorrow or later in the week. As we always try to remind folks, sandy and all-weather trails or dirt roads heading up into the Foothills should be your first forays back into the trail system.

In the meantime, our trail crew staff continues to make it around to any number of trail locations filling in significant ruts leftover from last week’s downpours. With the volume of rain we are receiving today, it is possible that some of this rutting may get slightly worse before we are able to address them. If you plan to be on the trails later this week, be on the lookout coming around corners or in brushy areas where the ability to see some of these ruts might be diminished. We anticipate that we will be able to address all these locations in the coming weeks before trails round into form for springtime trail use.

In the meantime, continue to stay updated with trail conditions and rainy-day trail information on the Ridge to Rivers website. Enjoy the spring rain and have a great day today!
