April 2 Trail Report
April 2, 2026 8:00 AM
After a half an inch of rainfall between yesterday afternoon and overnight last night, we urge trail users to continue giving the trail system a break early on today. Expect all of the Lower Foothill trails to be quite soggy with plenty of standing water this morning until it has a chance to drain down into the soil. Trails should begin drying slowly throughout the day, although cool temps and cloudy conditions will likely mean that this process could stretch into the weekend. All-weather surface trails and dirt roads will present the first opportunity to make it out into the Foothills once the sandy materials within these surfaces firm up. Also, while sections of trails that are subject to seasonal closures during this winter (think Ridgecrest, Old Pen, Seaman’s, and Who Now Loop) remain open currently, please continue to stay off of these trails until the weekend so that we don’t negate the positive impact these closures have had on conditions as we have exited the winter.
In the meantime, the most durable outdoor surface you will find today will be along the 29 miles of the Boise Greenbelt! The Greenbelt remains an outstanding option for scratching that outdoor recreation itch 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Take advantage of the opportunity this gem provides if you can’t postpone your recreation plans until the drying process allows for Foothill trail access once again. Continue to find updates on the Interactive Map and relevant information on Wet and Winter Weather.
Thanks to everyone for being patient as we move into our consistently pleasant spring and early summer weather pattern.
