April 13 Trail Report
April 13, 2026 12:00 PM
Unless you have been locked in a windowless room over the weekend, you probably don't need to read this report to know that trails in the Foothills are saturated and will be highly prone to damage from any type of use today - and likely throughout the week, as more rain is expected.
At 7 a.m. this morning we are approaching an inch of rain over the past 24 hours. This has left even the surface of our all-weather trails soft, so these too should be avoided today. Please use the Boise Greenbelt or one of our (very) green parks for your outdoor recreation experience today - and don't forget your rain jacket!
NOTES:
Due to the wet weather, the Boise National Forest has post the daily Bogus Basin Road and Eastside area trail closures that were scheduled to begin on today. These closures will now begin on April 27 – and last until June 19th as planned.
Sheep will be moving through the Foothills beginning next weekend. Please give them time to move off the trail if you encounter them. Cyclists, it is best to dismount and walk your bike until you have passed a band of sheep. They will move away readily and this will keep their guard dogs from feeling like you are a threat to them.
