A walk on the trails in August is a good way to appreciate the value of the trees and shrubs along desert creeks. As a critter in search of food, cover and water, it quickly becomes apparent how important these areas are to wildlife. Most species spend at least part of the time in or along these corridors.

Because of the significance of stream corridors, or riparian areas, it is important to stay only on the marked trails, keep your pets from running or hunting through the streamside shrubs, and cross only at established crossings. In some places a faint game trail may exist that is not marked nor on the trail map. This usually indicates a place that has been left for the wildlife. Please respect the animals and give them the room they deserve.
