Trails

Shafer_Creek_MapSystem Wide Map

The Ridge to Rivers Trail System provides a variety of experiences and opportunities. Some trails are steep and require skill or stamina to negotiate, while others are more gradual and suitable for a wide range of abilities. For some specific suggestions see Hikes & Rides.

Shafer Creek Map

The Shafer Trail System is now signed, and maps are available at most Boise outdoor stores. It should be noted that numerous trails still exist in the lower Shafer Creek area that are not signed or depicted on the map. These trails cross private land, and should be avoided. Please stay only on system trails.Biker Yield

To get the most out of your trail experience, please...

• Be Courteous - Mountain bikers, please slow down for others, including other riders.

• Control your pets to avoid scaring people and wildlife.

• Share the trails.

• Respect private land by staying only on the marked trails.

• Be Careful - Rattlesnakes, ticks, poison ivy, heat, steep drop offs and rough trails are part of the trail experience. Use caution and be prepared.

Private_Land_Sign

Because many of the trails cross private land, it is important to stay on the marked trails. Landowners have been kind to allow public access on select trails so we must repay the generosity by respecting their land. Travel off marked trails is trespassing and puts at risk the future of public access on private land.
